Hi there..

Coming from the Mac I just wish we would have some project like the NewtonPlayGround editor for all supported platforms!
Maybe based on Qt or even one of the OpenGL GUI toolkits, but something that could be used for rapid prototyping of complex scenes.

I wonder if it would be possible to extend e.g. Blender or another open source 3D editor with a plugin to do that..

What about SketchUp? it's cross platform and there's a physics plugin for it: http://sketchyphysics.com but i dont know if this is suitable as a physics editor.

There's also the Scythe physics editor: http://www.physicseditor.com/features.shtml but it is windows-only.
