Small problem with CustomDGRayCastCar

Postby bleubleu » Sun May 02, 2010 11:23 pm

Hi!

I have a small problem with Dave Gravel's raycast car, im using Newton 2.20.

If you setup the car on a perfect plane, and let it stop completely, the car will get "stuck'. I am NOT talking about the body going into auto-sleep (which I disabled for the car), I mean the wheels spins but the car gets not traction. This only happens if you willingly let it stop, as long as you move, everything is fine.

This does not happen in the SDK demo because there is always a slope and the car always moves.

I wonder if this isn't a special edge case that isn't handled... I can provide more info if needed.

Sounds similar to my problem, tho i can't get it to move at all when its on a flat plane unless something hits it (I.E a sphere).

Ok I will check this out, and see what it is.
Ther is a demo so I will see what it is .

I was waithing for David lastest modifications, that make the car do cool stuff like Drifting is circle and power slides.
that way I will add a final buidl for every one. are you guys using the Car in the SDK or David Car,

I am using my own car and program, but it is a standard car with pretty much the same parameters as in the SDK demos.
I am very confident you can reproduce it in the SDK if you replace the terrain geometry by a simple plane.

Let me know if you cant repro it, I will do everything to help you.

I am using the SDK car, but through the DG functions in the Joint Library rather than the SDK Demo's C++ Class (Im using Delphi).

Stucuk in the demo you posted what key apply torque, I hit few of them and the can continue sliding slowly but I thought that there was no torque applied on any key.
can you explain me what key are suppose to control the car, so the I know it is not working when I hit them?

You don't press any keys. Torque is always applied to the latest Car you create(Depending on what demo you are running. Older ones only had one car iirc). The best demo of mine to use is the last one i posted in "my thread"(Last post).

The problem, I can't rebuild newton sdk.
It say, the project is not take in charge by visual express ...
I need to update something for get it work ?
When I load the sdk prj only some sdk parts loading and I get the error and other sdk tools stay gray in the prj ide list.
It seen to have begin after your new visual implementation, sorry to don't have report it before it's because I working under delphi at this time.

PS:
It's not a problem in self, I just like to let's you know about my name hehe.
Here David vs Dave is totally a different name.
David is not a french translation for my name.
My name sound like "Adam and Eve" just to add a D to Eve = sounding like Deve.
:P
