This is seriously ridiculous. How the hell am I supposed to read these?

I got lucky with a code which wasn't so bad (after clicking Delete all board cookies which allowed me to continue trying even after it blocked me - bottom of page).
Please change this. It's ridiculous.

And hey guys, I'm new :P

I can barely read them, way too difficult.
ReCaptcha is much better than phpBB's captcha

well we do not have any way to stop the spammers.

It is not us, it is the unscrupolus Spamer and marketers tryin to insert ad and link to other sites tha force us to to that.
Can you suggest something different?

what is ReCaptcha?

http://recaptcha.net/ It's an alternative to using the built in Captcha system. Plus it helps digitize books (Apparently)

I'm not saying it should be removed, I just think that they are too hard to read and should be replaced by easier ones, like danharibo has suggested.

I mean, can you read them??

wow, I just tryied to register myselft to see how hard the protection code is, and wow it is quite ferociuos
I do not udertand how it is the Spammers still can read it, because I delete spammers from time to time.

Delfi can you check out what they say http://recaptcha.net/
I had seen tha sites like Intel and Nvidia, with protection that are more deadable and yet they do not get spammers.

I just added recaptcha, tested it, and it works, try it now.

Edit: oh, and welcome Jallenbah, i hope your further experiences with forum will be much more friendlier than the registration :D

That was fast. I just tryied, and it is very nice.

I have not idea how they say that security is harder to decifer by the spammers than the other one, but who am I to say.
Like they say the the prove of the pudding is in the eating, let us see how effective it is.

One thing I know it is much nicer.

it will not stop cheap human labour that processes these capthas from signing up, but it will stop the hacked bots that are made specifically to target the original phpbb captcha images using various object & character recognition algorythms that are designed for original captcha system, which likely isn't changed in 99% of phpbb installations.

There was an article about that it took spammers quite some time to break the new phpbb 3 captcha, phpbb 2 captcha was very poor and i remember we got a lot of spam signups when the forum ran on old version, the new version was good until lately, when they broke the new captcha, hopefully it will stop them better now, when we use this non-standard captcha page using recaptcha that danharibo suggested, i like the solution and i hope it lasts for a while.

Thanks for changing the anti bot captcha. I was trying to register the day before yesterday but I couldn't read ANY of the codes and I must have tried about 10 times. Much better now.

Oh and hi by the way.

That's a lot better :D
I've been doing some stuff with 1.53 and the irrlicht graphics engine. I like the amount of tutorials, I find tutorials much more helpful than documentation by itself.
