I have no control over the each time the pose some new rule I have to figure out what to do.

somehow that Ip in this account say it is blacklisted in some self-appointed internet police system.
I myself could not pose, so I have to disable the DNS check until next time.

please try again
BTW you video is set to private, so I can see uit.

yeah, it is not your IP, it is the forum software that I am using that is about 20 years old. and lot of things has changed on the internet since them.
I was blocked this morning as well; after calling the web hosting, they guide me as to what to do the pass that.

I get this this warning is the software.
Your phpBB installation is not up to date.
Re-Check version · More information »

they recommend to upgrade, but upgrading is not an automatic process, the person has to be very well versed with PHP software, because if you miss something it could go really bad.

anyway, that seem solve now.

The website & forum could really use a proper ssl certificate, it is possible a whole bunch of issues could be related to lack of ssl certificate.

I will check for a spam list option.

Hi JerneJl,
if you are still around.

I am trying to upload a document file to the website and is has been a nightmare.
In the pass I use Filezila to browse and upload files to the site and get a link that I can post.
Untitled.png
Untitled.png (42.71 KiB) Viewed 14905 times

It has been many years since I did that, so maybe I miss some important step.

the thing is that I manage to connect but I got this mage, which show all the file encrypted
I log in GoDaddy and follow the instructions, but every step I did, I made things worse and worse.

anyway, I went to support and the fix the problem.
I think that all those certified are UpToDate and I can make backups.

edit:
I did see the file structure when I went to GoDaddy File Manager.
I also managed to upload the doc.
but the problem I have with that tool is that is very crude.
after Loading a file, you do not really get download link, like it is the case with filezila.
Filezila and I guess any other serve file manage will be better than GoDaddy tools.

This can also be verified on various SSL checkers. Results for some of these SSL checkers show that your website has passed all SSL checks:

the website is back online and now GoDaddy does not who any risk of deficiency, however I still can see the file directory in filezila.

but GodDaddy does not cover that area.
also, they mention that my site still uses PHP 5.4 and that sometime soon they will stop supporting that, that I need to go to the later version soon, but they do not support that either.
I click change to version 8.x and it was a disaster.
It seems they restore back to sometime before I made the change.
The problem is that it appears that the later PHP does not support sql, so it is not a trivial update.

that what I understood from what I read and what they said in the support.

So, if you read this,
I wonder if you have some insights.

I am actually scared to mess around with options in GoDaddy without know what I am really doing, since it seems any slight change can have serious repercussion that you only discover aft ethe fact.

I think originally filezilla put you into some weird directory. you can try some more modern tool like winscp.

I see you did figure out ssl certificate which is amazing as search engines (esp. google) will rank website better finally.

regarding php 5.4, it would need some experimenting, but if i recall correctly, changing php version on backend & upgrading phpbb has to be done in a proper sequence. and all extensions need to be checked in advance if they work on.

Maybe we can test and upgrade locally somehow before putting updated php it live. which php versions are availible on godaddy?

on the file zila, yes you are correct.
I called again and fortunately GoDaddy encourage using FileZilla, they debugged the problem.
They found that when I made the account in GoDaddy, I did not specify the path to the folder,
they suggest deleting the account, make a new one but edit the default path to point to the forum Download and that did it.

About PHP.
I am deep into making the unreal plugin and that requires lot of time.
I did not expect unreal to be that hard.
After looking at the php update task, I realize is a lot bigger that I thought I could handle
following tutorials and not knowing what I was doing, and that's too much to take now.

Somehow, they restored the forum to an older version before I made the mistake to clicked update to php 8.+
They also said that very soon, they will stop supporting such older version of PHP.
So the forum has to be updated soon, and they do not provide support for PHP,
they are only concerned with world press users.

I also paid for the download backup feature.
So it should be possible to get the whole thing and try a locally.

thanks
JernejL

I just post the question, and go this

"GoDaddy no longer supports PHP 5.4, as it is an outdated version.

I would request you to upgrade to a more recent PHP version to ensure better security and performance for your website.

Shall I help you with the upgrade?"

but that's a moronic AI answering system.
I found that GoDaddy is a snake oil money scan scheme, every time you call them, they put you in contact with salesperson that is only interested in selling you services than in giving a to the question answer.

There are more ways - it might be in the end easier to upgrade by installing a secondary & fresh phpbb file system, and transfer database over.

But many of approaches might have to at least temporarily disable the forum skins or plugins.

So i will try to find a way to make upgrade and keep as much as possible intact.

as I remember, support is already passed long time ago, it was until December last year, for version 7.

The person, who help me restore the site when I mess up, fixed as a favor, but it was no free.
I paid for the security so He restored the site to a backup so that he can try.
They have a program called CPanel, where all that stuff is set. But is have no idea how that works

For what I understand, it is not GoDaddy that control PHP support, it is PHP.
What it means is that no change or maintenance to any version lower than 7.4 is supported anymore,
If they add some functionality that only exist is version larger that 7.4, any site using older version is out of luck.

you can just type GoDaddy php support and you get links like this:
