CreateCustomPlayerController()

Postby Leadwerks » Wed Sep 30, 2009 1:18 am

I got this working, but it seems like there is no way to jump. The controller sort of locks the player to the ground, so I can only jump if I am not in contact with the ground.

I was wrapped of the destruction think, but I can add more feayure to et hPlayer before moving to teh nex feature.

how do the functions that are already in the player fell to you?
I am colledting infomation to see hwo to mak eadjustmenet and improvmenets.

I got it working and tested yours against mine. I found the Newton custom player controller to be jerky when the camera is placed in the body. My own solution is perfectly smooth, and it handles all problems, so I am going to stick with it.

Here a video showing the range of situations it can handle:

I think the link is wrong, I can not see the movie.

I do not undersnand the Newton player should be smooth as silk, inclcuding first person camera.
Play the wiki, it uses one of your own test levels.
if you do Hit the space key to play first person.

But if you are happy with your version tha good too.

If you download the demo, you can just run the Player demo, I have not written the tutorial since I still miss many funtionality.

I can see your video now.
you are correct you player is much more finished than the one in Newton. Maybe for you it is not good to make the switch an dstste with your,
Hey I wish I have one just as good.

I like to make the one in Newton a least as stable as your but for that I need better real world test.
The test I made are not as comprehensive as the one you show in the video.

It is possible you send me a demo with the player in that scene that I can use for finetuning the Newtopn Player?
Not for the purpose of you changing yours, but for me to offer a viable solution that meet sminumum expectation for newton users.

On another note, I was reading over your forum to see if some one was using the player, and I found this
Hi all, how is object demolition/deformation accomplished? Consider the following scenarios...
1. A house walls are damaged by flood waters.
2. The winds breaks apart and blows the roof into the wind.

How would the walls of the house be designed for example? Would I essentially have to make the wall consisting of different pieces so that on collision the wall will break into the pieces already defined or is there another way to get this done?...

Maybe you can try the lastest Beta 2.1 and see the new Destruction feature in Newton.
The next beta is comming with full building demolition too.

I'll send a demo when the next beta of my editor comes out. That video is a script running in the scene editor. :)
